Excel Now Chess Club and Community Center’s Chess Tournament
Sections:
Players with 10 or more prior rated games are eligible for this tournament See regulations below.
All sections are non-rated and are divided based on grade and/or experience as follows:
• Grade K-2
• Grade 3-5
• Grade 6-12
OR Rating:
• Beginners: Do not know how the pieces move.
• Intermediate: Beginning to explore strategies.
• Advanced: Developed beginning, middle and end game strategies.
Tournament or rated players:
Can play each other. Awards will be dependent on participation.
Chess puzzles, Give-away Chess, 8 Queens, Bug House, Pawns War, and Knight’s Tour.
Format:
3 rounds, 2-min delay for each move
• Pairings: No elimination, everyone plays all rounds.
• Clocks: Not provided however, may be used if both players agree.
• Byes: One ½ point bye any round except the last round if requested before round 2 is paired.
Schedule:
11:am self check-in. Round 1 will begin promptly at 11:30 AM.
Additional rounds will begin as soon as possible after the completion of the last game of the preceding
round. Estimated award presentation time: 1-2 pm.
